Wow hang on to your hats, it’s really gusty and rainy out there today, it makes me so pleased to stay inside and craft!
Today’s projects are using the Fabric, yes I did say fabric ! Spice Cake Fabric in fact, now I am NOT a seamstress, I did spend many happy years cross stitching and making tapestries but I have no skills in the ‘proper sewing’ line. So all my projects using fabric, need to also use glue!
The covered notebook uses the 12×12 self adhesive big shot sheets and to be fair takes a bit of time and patience, firstly you need a hard backed book, you cut the fabric to size with about an inch extra on all sides, then peel off the backing sheet from the adhesive and stick the Spice Cake Fabric onto it. If you then replace the backing sheet and rub all over, this helps the adhesive stick to the Spice Cake Fabric, once it’s ready peel the second backing sheet off and lay the Spice Cake Fabric glue side up, I worked from left to right, smoothing out bubbles as I went, you then curve the Spice Cake Fabric around the edges of the book. I covered over the raw edges with a piece of Pool Party card and then decorated the front with some crochet trim and a flower cut from a piece of Spice Cake Fabric that I had stuck onto a piece of card to give it some dimension. The flower is finished with one of the huge Spice Cake buttons.
The ragedy flower brooch is made using the Spice Cake Fabric and the Fun Flowers dies for the big shot, I cut lots of layers, which is so easy to do with the big shot and I did actually sew them together, okay so I know I said I only glue things…….but basically I just sewed the button onto the fabric and everyone can sew a button on !
Here is a close up, I washed the brooch and whilst it was wet scrunched it up and put it on a radiator to dry, it’s sooooo cute!
My final picture for today is of my new toy and one that is getting so much use at the moment! I love real fires and have always wanted one at home but we live in a house with no chimney! So as part of the extension build, we had a huge shiny silver chimney installed and this beauty ! It has glass on 3 sides and is made of cast iron so the heat from it is amazing, I am getting through a few logs though, but I have learnt how to chop kindling and prepare logs and I still have all fingers and thumbs attached after using the axe, so all is good.
I hope you are nice and warm and dry where ever you are, and you manage to get some crafting done today! I have 2 more orders going in for the current Stampin’ Up! UK Spring mini catalogue, one on Friday and one on Monday, if you can collect from me there will be no postage to pay, if you would like your parcel sent direct via UPS the charge is £4.95.
