Oooh pretty butterflies today ! and a bit of a technique too, but not tricky I promise!
As part of the Sale-a-bration promotion this year all my hostesses are receiving a pack of Silver Glimmer paper, now this is no ordinary glimmer paper it is dazzling ! There are 2 sheets of 12″x12″ in each pack and a little goes a long way!
This first card uses lots of products so I’ll list them for you first and then I’ll explain how I got silver glimmer paper to become green, pink and blue!
The card base is Wild Wasabi and the stamps I used are from Creative elements, stamped in Wild Wasabi. I’ve cut a label using the largest of the Apothecary Accents Framelits, which is then run through the bigshot and the Perfect Polka dots embossing folder. The essentials paper piercing folder was then used to paper pierce around the edges of the Whisper White layer. The Thank you is from the Made for you Stamp set and punched out using the modern label punch. Phew, I did tell you lots of products !
So there are several ways to change the colour of the glimmer paper some messier than others………It does also depend on how dark you want the colour to be. The most successful way I have found is to use a sponge dauber and a little re-inker on a saucer and pounce the colour onto the glimmer paper, if you want a more subtle colour just add a little water to the re-inker but do allow extra time for it to dry.
You really DON”T want to take the ink from the ink pad using a sponge dauber because some of the glitter will come off onto the dauber and onto your ink pad and believe me getting glitter off the new firm foam pads is not something you want to be doing…..! Yes indeed, I have 2 very glittery inkpads at the moment !!!! You could of course use a paint brush if that is easier.
This second card also focuses on butterflies but this time of the stamped and punched variety. The Basic Black edge is made using the Finishing Touches Edgelits and the stamp sets are Delicate Doilies and Papillion Potpourri. The sentiment is also from Made for You and the little flower in the centre is from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack.
It is glorious here in Hampshire today, the sun is streaming through the window so I’m going to grab a coffee and top up my Vitamin D levels in the sunshine!
That’s 2 more projects towards my total !
