How are you? Warmest day of the summer today here in the UK inside 26.5 degrees C and outside 32 degrees, and of course the perfect day for me to head back to my yoga class at the gym! It was fine actually, air-con worked well, as did all the people on their mats on the designated spots 2m apart. Very well organised, and good to be out and about in the world.

So today we are back in Christmas mode, yes my antlers were back on my head for the video. This time I showcased Poinsettia Place and the matching dies. I made 3 cards which you can see below along with the video. Do scroll down to hear about the bread!

Here is a close up of the Wink of Stella on the first card that I spread around with my fingers, it gives a lovely soft look.

I was asked about my bread, so here is a bit of an update……… I have now made 5 sour dough loaves, I have made the starter and it’s doing all the right things. But, not one of the loaves has been edible, although the crusts have been okay. I have learnt that there are soooooo many variables to do with your starter, the amount of water used, the length of fermentation, the kneading or not, the shaping and so it goes on. Wednesday was the worst loaf, it tasted horrid and was wet inside and flat as a pancake.

And yesterday, I tried cheating and put it in my trusty 3lb loaf tin, to stop it spreading all over the oven. I worked to hold the shape and looked promising, but again, heavy, soggy and not nice to eat.

I have therefore called a halt to the Sour Dough adventure, 5 loaves is enough for now. Who knows I might give it a go again sometime but for now I’m sticking to my trusty recipes in my 3lb tin! Although Cinnamon rolls are calling me………

Stay safe in this heat everyone, wear a hat, lots of suncream and fluids! I’ll be back on Monday, see you then.
